The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) have officially released the centralized employment notification (CEN 09/2025) for the recruitment of various posts in Level-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (popularly known as Group D).
For the year 2026, Indian Railways has announced a total of 22,195 vacancies across various Railway Zones. This is a massive opportunity for candidates with 10th Pass or ITI qualifications. Below, you will find complete details regarding the application process, eligibility, fee, and exam pattern.

Application Fees
The application fee must be paid online. Candidates appearing in the CBT will be eligible for a partial refund of the fee (after deducting bank charges).

Vacancy Details
There are a total of 22,195 vacancies distributed across different Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs). Detailed zone-wise vacancies (e.g., Northern Railway, Western Railway, Central Railway) are available in Annexure B of the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification (As on 02.03.2026)
Candidates must possess ANY ONE of the following qualifications from a recognized Board/NCVT/SCVT:
- 10th Pass (Matriculation)
- OR
- ITI from recognized institutions (NCVT/SCVT)
- OR
- National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Important Note: Diploma or Degree in Engineering will NOT be accepted in lieu of the Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) or ITI. Graduate Act Apprentices are also not eligible.
2. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 33 Years
Age Relaxation:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
- SC / ST: 5 Years
- PwBD (UR): 10 Years
Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of four stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) (Qualifying Nature)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination (ME)
Exam Pattern (CBT)
- Duration: 90 Minutes
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be called for PET. It is mandatory to pass this stage.
For Male Candidates:
- Lift and carry 35 kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
- Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
For Female Candidates:
- Lift and carry 20 kg of weight for 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.
- Run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

- Click on “Create an Account” (If applying for the first time in CEN 2024/2025 cycle, use existing credentials).
- Fill in your personal details and Select your Railway Zone carefully (Zone cannot be changed later).
- Upload a Live Photograph and a scanned Signature (Running handwriting, NOT capital letters).
- Pay the application fee via online mode.
- Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
